 | | | | | | | | | Setting the Scene: | | Our Thesis is that all problems we experience actually reside within the dynamics of family, community & the wider societies. The problems are often projected onto us from childhood. We carry the problems for others and have to learn to give them back where they belong. Families, communities and societies are often mal-adapted to allowing their citizens to integrate fully and often make poor use of their potential skills, intuitive knowledge and alternative experiences. This is as true for 'mental' disablement as it has been for physical disabilities. Importantly; these services also include the use of 'alternative, 'person centred', 'personal network focused', 'group work' & Community approaches. The services are geared towards the maintaining of psychological and emotional well being, at all ages. They are disposed to identifying, avoiding, resolving and recovering from abusive relationships and social situations. They are also used to aid recovery from psychological (including 'mental') and emotional (including 'spiritual'), 'induced ill-health', personal distress, social trauma and in dealing with alcohol, drug and other addictions, and serious psychosis. Informatively; Another significant part of our purpose is to facilitate broader professional education and continue to enlighten our communities. This includes positively enlightening its institutions, service & support agencies, public media, commerce and other businesses endeavours, to these important issues. This informing is geared to provide benefits to the individual and to the communities. When we use the term 'health' in the context of psychological and emotional problems, we do not imply the usual 'health services' notion of this. The usage is expanded and almost entirely relates to the interpersonal and social features, part of which encompasses our 'physical health' but which can also be considered to encompass what can be described as social and community health. Its for You; Whatever our professional background and training; Whatever our personal experiences; Whatever psychological and emotional trauma experienced; Our common objective is maintain the focus on helping people overcome the psychological, emotional and social consequences of physical, personal, relational, or social trauma. This includes the consequence of bullying, abuse, assault, criminal behaviour, neglect, conflict, shyness, prejudice, emotional distress, psychological breakdown, emotional breakdown, alcohol, drug & gambling problems, disability, institutionalization, clinical treatments, learning difficulties, memory loss, cognitive difficulties and any other conditions, events and experiences that you feel have had psychological and serious emotional consequences. The adage (all-be-it slightly misplaced here). "It's not what you have got, but what you do with it that counts", aptly summarises our attitude. Another one to bear in mind is; "It's not what you know but who you know, that count". This is usually used as a put-down of intellectual knowledge. Here it just emphasises community. |
