Forum Space - There are some additional Categories.Discussion Forums / Blogg Space / Bulletin BoardOur Policy has changed a little and we are going to use the same General Forum Area for Discussion Forums, Problem Solving Dialogue, Agony Aunt (Uncle) threads, Interactive Policy Development, a Site Blogg, Personal Bloggs and for any other valid Category. These area of communication are basically all Forums but the various purposes will be set up as separated Categories. This will mean that you need only learn to use one recording & editing format for all the Categories listed. Each Category will have different levels of security, of course, as you may wish to restrict people commenting directly on your Blogg space, for example. If you go to the Forum & Bloggs Area you will see working examples of each category. Hopefully this will give you some idea of how each section can work for you. We will seek to make each Category distinctive but they will have the same underlying structure. Learn to use one and you will understand the others. If you want any help setting up a Forum ,or another kind of Category, please feel free to email us about your requirements eMail: forumdevelopment@visitweb.org . We can get your Forum Area started and then guide you in how to edit and maintain it.
Forum Space is now up and runningThe continuation of Interactive therapeutic environmentsFebruary 25th, 2008Our Forum Space is now available. There are currently 3 Forums. One of these forums is primarily designed for professional visitors to interact with each other. We want to encourage discussion between professionals and for that discussion to be open to constructive contribution from others. Another Forum is primarily for Service Users to interact. This is also an open forum but other site users are asked to respect this space as reserved for 'Service User' issues and debate. I am sure that there will be no objection to the constructive contribution of others. A third Forum is more open but is geared towards 'Problem Solving'. This is an area where anyone can ask everyone else a question, related to the issues that this site is designed to represent. It is deliberately open to all and any suggestions made should be taken as 'options' to consider. Areas of Debate: I have posed and initial problem / question on each of these Forums, but please feel free to enter your own. I would like to feel that we can pose any reasonable question, or promote any constructive suggestions, related to the broad fields that we cover. If you wish other Forums to be developed, then please feel free to ask us to set them up and promote them. It is possible, once you are a registered member, to set up your own Forums. These can cover any area that affects psychological and emotional wellbeing and community care. Everything from Child Care, learning and disability issues, through to psychiatry, social policy and philosophy. Dedicated Forums: If you represent a voluntary agency, or a professional body, and want some space for your members we will be happy to dedicate Forum Space to this purpose. We ask that the voluntary, or professional agency should be relevant to our objectives in some way and that the Forums be open to reading by all our members, although contributions can be restricted, if you feel this is important. Advertising and Promotion: Advertising in this area is not acceptable. If you wish to advertise, or promote your own service, then please send me details and we will consider where we may best place the advert. If you are a voluntary or non-profit making agency who has objectives that fit our brief, these adverts will be free. If you wish to advertise a professional service, or products be will consider adverts that complement our services and do not conflict with our principles and objectives. A fee will be charged for this service. If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me on the email address below:

VisitWeb is now up and runningThe beginnings of Interactive therapeutic environmentsJanuary 1st 2008 I hope that this is just the beginnings of the kind of service that is able to offer you comprehensive overviews of how we get into and how we can learn to manage personal and social distress; How we can take all experiences, good and bad, and turn them to our own and others benefit; How we can become 're-empowered' against the odds at times. Therapeutic communities have been around for a while now. They vary a bit and some of the fundamental principles get distorted over time. Some of those principles have been borrowed by others, who pretend to practice in a person centred, group dynamic, user led way. Its impossible to stay 'pure' but we have to stay 'open' to challenge, growth and re-invigoration, without the loss of basic principles and credibility. We are seeking to get back to the fundamental roots of what Therapeutic Communities are all about; putting you and fellow survivors at the Centre once more. I hope we are able to refine and expand these environments, without loosing the basic principles. I hope this can be 'copied' in the future, without becoming distorted in the process. Most people try to emulate these very successful and empowering environments with the best of intentions. When it is successful we can see new opportunities open up and the continuation of 'radical' change. When these fail, this tends to unfairly reflect upon the basic principles of 'Therapeutic Communities' and User Centred - Group Dynamic approaches. Here we are going to expand that 'Therapeutic Environment', taking 'Therapeutic Networks' (Community based 'Therapeutic Communities) the next stage. Out intention is not just to create a forum for existing Therapeutic Communities but to establish the beginnings of a fully interactive WWW Therapeutic Community, that anyone with genuine intentions can join.
