The Presentation of Written Material:
Much of the site will have five broad forms of material, presented in various
ways, to suite all tastes and meet differing purposes. These are not separated
out for any other purpose than to meet differing needs and expectations. The
broad forms are:
- 1) Largely 'theoretical' material, with logical argument and
supporting evidence. Sometimes this comes with formal, or general
references (where these are justified). Sometimes the material provides
suggested reading, where that material is deemed suitable and supportive to
our purpose, or, alternatively, is useful for the purpose of contrasting with
our declared purpose.
This type of material is there to give (for those who want, or need it) a
sound basis to: a) establish a more fair and equitable approach to resolving
inter-personal and social problems; b) understand the general approach we
take; c) understand the methods & techniques we use; d) a basis for
arguing for social changes & improved services; and/or, e) to 'justify' our
moral, ethical and professional stance.
- 2) Material, largely based upon this theory and evidence, but which is
more readable and useful for enhancing individual understanding and motivation. This material
can be used for the
'emotional' presentation of an argument for change. It can also be used for
'doing' what we all do best; to encourage and support each other, where this is requested, agreed and
appears beneficial to those that need it.
It can be most useful for people who want ideas about how to deal with
problems they, or others, are experiencing but are willing to accept the
explanations (theory) on trust, or those who are already in agreement with
our general principles and theory. This material can also be useful to those
who have a general interest in the subjects, in community action, politics and
social welfare.
- 3) Material of personal, anecdotal and professional experiences that
illustrate particular interpersonal & social situations, examples of abuse & conflict
and the resolutions to interpersonal conflict and psycho-social problems (we have described
else where). This material is easy reading but is also a further level of
evidence that may support aspects of our theoretical approach.
The purpose of this material is to 'illustrate' and to provide examples, that
reinforce confidence in 'self help' and regaining some sense of control over what is
'done' to us. It can help you to gain a newer perspective on 'Mental Health'
and make the issues of psychological & emotional difficulties and their
potential for resolution, feel more natural and normal (as they indeed are).
- 4) This is 'Interactive Material', in the form of Personal and
Public Blogs, Open Access Documents and Chat Room / Lounge Conversations,
which can be anonymous, or public, by choice. This 'medium' is 'open', in the
sense that it is available as means of expression, to all that visit the site
and will be dealt with (by us) as a serious contribution, unless it is clearly
has a malicious intention (in which case we will 're-package' it as being
illustrative of a form of 'abuse'.
The material coming through these channels will monitored by us, as this is a responsible thing
to do, and any contraventions of Law & Public Decency and Public Interest, or
of an Abusive Character, will be censored from public view, but the core
material will still be made available in an acceptable form, if this is in the
interests of readers. Such material may also be additionally 'commented' upon by ourselves,
to give an appropriate context for this inclusion. (These comments will he
highlighted as such).
- 5) Information on alternative support agencies and
wider perspectives on Mental Health, Relationship Problems and Interpersonal
and Work Place Abuse. These sections will also include other useful
information that is closely associated with the issues we are dealing with.
This is in the form of an accessible 'Database' and will develop 'Links' to
other, relevant websites.
Mental Health, psychological & emotional trauma and abuse and other
family and interpersonal difficulties, have wide social impact. The impact is both ways.
Most agencies and institutions have a bearing on our lives and are required to
have a particular focus and contribution on all these important issues. The
various institutions are often inadequately resourced and knowledge is
frequently lacking. You are advised to be aware of your rights and their
obligations to you.
The information databases therefore includes references to agencies and
departments that advise on, or supply services to, or from; Police,
Housing, Social Services, GP Services, Health Services, Charitable
Organisations and other statutory authorities and reference bodies. These
include the bodies that 'supervise' the wide range of professionals involved
in the support, care and protections of any of these 'service users'.
